A short trip to Dummas beach.

Before coming in Surat the only fascination I had had that it is a coastal area and has many beaches. The beaches of Arabian Sea is less fascinating to me than the sea itself because I am really a nature lover and being born and brought up in West Bengal I have already pleased my eyes by the beautiful sights of the Bay of Bengal and its beaches. Anyhow I got very much excited about the thought of viewing it. In January when I came in Surat from then onwards I was told by my neighbours and also by various youtubers that the most famous beach in and nearby Surat is Daman , Diu  and Dummas. Amongst these three we can enjoy in Daman and Diu but not in Dummas. Not only that last year in December when my husband visited Surat for the first time he found the beach dry and the most ridiculous thing for me that I was informed by everyone that it is a haunted beach and so better to avoid visiting it after sunset.                                                                                                                                   So  I suppressed my desire to visit the beaches at least for one year because of my pregnancy as Damman and Diu are far from my house but Dummas is only 40 minutes away in scotty. Still  I was  thwarted to visit and forced from quenching my thirst. But on 7th June it was my birthday and I convinced my husband to take me to Dummas and I promised him I would just peep if there is water or not as I have already mentioned it is said to be a haunted beach. So we started our journey at 6 in the evening and reached there around 6.45. The way was not rough rather it's a smooth road to drive a car. Enquiring after enquiring we reached there and when the road to beach came it was a small alley and at first no one was visible. at that time not only my husband me too lopped off our bravery and for a second got scared. But when we finally reached and saw the sea I was awe-struck. What was that ? I asked my husband and taunted him little bit because the sea first of all was not dry and secondly it was full of visitors. The situation reminded me that famous line of Coleridge , "Water water everywhere / not a drop to drink". Although we were not thirsty and we were not bound to drink sea water still I remembered the line as it was full of water and my husband told me the beach is a dry one. Whatever it was I was happy because  I was depressed after coming to Surat as I had left job and naturally its take time to settle in a new place.
It  was my own experience of Dummas beach. now I want to give a review for the benefit of public. If anyone wants to visit the beach he should prefer evening time in summer and morning time in winter. But the most important thing to keep in mind is that the day should be full tide otherwise there will be very less water to get enjoyed. One can go by car or bike because public transport is not always available. Food nearby beach area is worst. It's good to avoid but when you come to the main road u can get a dhabba where various types of vajis are available. These are better. One can consume it if he is very hungry. Otherwise I will recommend to avoid it too. The last thing I want to mention that there is a graveyard near the beach and I think people set about the rumour that it is a haunted beach because of that graveyard. But I don't think it's haunted at all.
